SpiroTact Pilot Study

Two weeks ago, some of the Detact team (Joost, Matt Burton and Marleen Kalk) had the incredible opportunity to travel to East London, South Africa, to visit the FPD as part of our ongoing project to develop a groundbreaking syphilis diagnostic tool named SpiroTact® in collaboration with the Gates Foundation.

Our mission was clear: to connect directly with the heroic nurses working on the front lines of healthcare. These interactions are invaluable. By listening to the nurses, we’re gaining firsthand insights into their daily challenges and understanding how SpiroTact® can be tailored to effectively meet their needs.

The dedication and expertise of these healthcare professionals we met were genuinely inspiring. Their feedback is guiding us and helping shape our VIPER® Technology to ensure it is accessible and practical in real-world settings, especially in communities most affected by this disease

We're excited to bring back what we've learned and incorporate these vital perspectives into the SpiroTact development process. This journey is not just about creating a product but ensuring it makes a meaningful difference in the lives of the medical staff and the patients they serve.

Stay tuned as we continue to push the boundaries of healthcare innovation and strive to make a significant health impact worldwide!

We thank Mandisa Zimba-Mdingi, the FPD's Research Manager, for organizing this eye-opening trip. The work she and her team do daily makes a significant difference to those affected by Syphilis. Mandisa, we look forward to continuing our collaboration as we sincerely value your contributions to our project.

Special thanks must also go to Remco Peters for his help and introduction to Mandisa and the team in South Africa.
